Schalke 04's Nabil Bentaleb came close to joining Werder Bremen in the summer - and apparently, he remains interested in a move to Weserstadion.

Nabil Bentaleb still wants to join Werder Bremen from Schalke 04, according to Deichstube.
The central midfielder nearly made the move to Werder in the summer, but ultimately stayed at Schalke 04.
Bentaleb, who has trained with the U23's since returning from a long-term injury, hasn't stopped thinking about Werder, though, and remains keen on a move to Weserstadion, as per the report.
The question is if the interest is mutual. Werder ended up bringing in Leonardo Bittencourt instead of Bentaleb, and the club's sporting director, Frank Baumann, said a few weeks ago that he doesn't plan to make any signings in January.
