Denis Zakaria praises Marcus Thuram: 'What he brings to the pitch is phenomenal'

Denis Zakaria waxed lyrical about Marcus Thuram after the striker scored the winner in Gladbach's 2-1 win over AS Roma on Thursday.
Denis Zakaria lauded praise on teammate Marcus Thuram after the striker scored a last-ditch winner against Roma in the Europa League on Thursday.

Thuram earned 'Die Fohlen' a hard-fought 2-1 win with a late goal as he found the net for the third game in a row.

"It was so important that Marcus scored that goal today. He is a great guy, a little crazy maybe, but what he brings to the pitch is phenomenal," Zakaria said after the game as quoted by the club.

Thuram was obviously delighted with his important goal.

"It was great to get the winner in added time. But of course we have the whole team to thank for the victory. We pushed for the win until the end; we never gave up and always believed that we could do it. We are so happy and the smiles will not leave our faces tonight," the French striker said after the game.

The 22-year-old has made 16 appearances for Gladbach following his summer move from Guingamp, racking up eight goals and four assists.
