Gebre Selassie pens new Werder Bremen deal

Werder Bremen have announced that Theodor Gebre Selassie has signed a contract extension.
Theodor Gebre Selassie has signed a new contract with Werder Bremen, the club have announced.

There's no official word on the length of the new contract, but according to Deichstube, the 32-year-old has penned a deal until 2022.

"Theo has been a key part of our squad for many years. His vast experience makes him an important factor in the cohesion and success of the team not just on the pitch, but in and around the dressing room as well," Werder sporting director Frank Baumann said, as quoted by the club.

After signing his new deal, Gebre Selassie stated:

"I've always emphasised how much I wanted to continue to play for Werder and I'm happy that we’ve come to such a quick agreement. It’s also very important for my family. Now I'm just looking forward to the upcoming games and playing in front of our fans. My goal is to once again play European football here at Werder."

The right-back has played for Werder since 2012.
