Schalke 04 midfielder Omar Mascarell feels his former coach Niko Kovac made him 'a better player and a better person'.
The 26-year-old, who played under Kovac at Eintracht Frankfurt from 2016 to 2018, told Bild:
"I came to Germany; a new country and a different kind of football. Niko Kovac made me a better player and a better person. He was perfect for me.
"He has been very important for me and my career. He immediately gave me back my confidence by telling me how valuable I was for the team and how much trust he put in me," Mascarell explained.
In the summer of 2018, Kovac left Frankfurt to join Bayern while Mascarell made the switch to Schalke 04.
