Toni Kroos is happy to be playing alongside Joshua Kimmich in the middle of the park for Germany.

Kimmich was moved from right back to central midfield after last year's World Cup, and Kroos enjoys having the 24-year-old next to him.

"'Jo' can do both: he can make life difficult for our opponents and is able to make smart decisions with the ball. The fact that we work well together wasn't a surprise for me," Kroos said at a press conference today, as quoted by the German Football Association.

Germany sealed a place at Euro 2020 with a 4-0 victory over Belarus on Saturday, and Kroos now wants to secure the top spot in Group C with a win over Northern Ireland on Tuesday.

"The fact that we have the chance to win our group gives us a bit of extra incentive. We need to get off to a good start in order to win the match and finish in first," he said.

Germany and Northern Ireland lock horns at Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt on Tuesday at 20.45 CET.
