Lucien Favre: 'Being a national team coach has never interested me'

Lucien Favre has downplayed speculation that he could succeed Vladimir Petkovic as Switzerland coach after Euro 2020.
Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre has made it clear that he's not interested in coaching a national team.

Favre has been mentioned as a potential successor for Switzerland coach Vladimir Petkovic, whose contract runs out after Euro 2020, but the 62-year-old claims he doesn't want to coach his country's national team.

"Being a national team coach has never interested me," Favre said in an interview with Swiss newspaper Tribune de Genève.

"This task is out of the question for me. I have stressed that several times before. Nothing has changed at all. I like the day-to-day business," he continued.

Favre's deal with Dortmund expires in 2021.
