Revealed: Why Jadon Sancho was benched for Dortmund's clash with Barcelona
Apparently, Jadon Sancho was left out of Borussia Dortmund's starting eleven against FC Barcelona because he was late for a team meeting on Tuesday.
Bild claims to know why Jadon Sancho was left out of Borussia Dortmund's line-up for Wednesday's Champions League clash with FC Barcelona.
According to the German tabloid, the 19-year-old was most likely benched because he was 'considerably late' for a team meeting on Tuesday.
"We need players on the pitch who are focused and ready," Favre told reporters before Wednesday's 3-1 defeat when asked why Sancho wasn't in the line-up.
However, speaking to Bild after the game, Favre insisted that his decision to put Sancho on the bench had nothing to do with the alleged episode on Tuesday.
Sancho impressed after he was subbed on at the break and scored a well-taken goal in the second half.
It's not the first time Sancho is involved in a disciplinary incident this season. Last month, the youngster received a fine of around €100,000 and was suspended by the club for a game against Gladbach for returning late from international duty.
In total, he has made 18 appearances for Dortmund this season, racking up six goals and nine assists.
