Report: Leverkusen set to sign Argentine midfielder in January

Exequiel Palacios is on the verge of completing a move from River Plate to Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayer Leverkusen have agreed a deal to bring in Exequiel Palacios from River Plate in January, subject to a medical, according to Kicker.

If all goes according to plan, the 21-year-old will complete a €22 million move to BayArena and sign a contract until 2025.

Kicker claims that Palacios isn't considered a replacement for Charles Aranguiz, who is out of contract this summer, or for Kai Havertz, who is expected to take the next step in his career in the summer.

Palacios, a versatile central midfielder, has made 77 appearances for River Plate with seven goals and 10 assists to his name.

He made his debut for the Argentine national team in September 2018 and has played four games for his country.
