Werder captain Niklas Moisander 'ashamed' after 0-5 thrashing

Niklas Moisander was 'ashamed' by Werder Bremen's performance against Mainz.
Werder Bremen captain Niklas Moisander apologized to the fans after the club's underwhelming 0-5 loss to Mainz at Weserstadion on Tuesday evening.

'The Green-Whites' were trailing 0-4 at the break and ended up losing 0-5 after putting in a hugely disappointing performance at home.

"We have to be ashamed! We went over to the fans to apologise. We didn't deserve so many kind words. Our fans are amazing," Moisander said, as quoted by the club.

Werder have now lost five of their last six games in the Bundesliga, but Florian Kohfeldt's position as head coach remains safe, sporting director Frank Baumann confirmed after the final whistle.

"There's no discussion about Florian. I see how he works with the team every day. Now it's up to the team to give Florian something back," Baumann told Sky.
