Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter 'stands up' for his 'mentally and physically tired' players

"We need to sort this out together," Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter said after his team's loss to FC Köln on Wednesday.
Eintracht Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter defended his players after Wednesday's 2-4 defeat to FC Köln at home.

In their last home game of 2019, 'Die Adler' went 2-0 up, but suffered their third straight loss after Köln turned the game around.

"I'm standing up for the players. They are mentally and physically tired. We still tried to put up a fight. The turning point was Köln's goal before the break," Hütter said after the final whistle, as quoted by the club.

"We're disappointed as we wanted to reward ourselves in the final home game of the year. We need to sort this out together and give our all on Sunday. After that, it's the winter break. The training camp in Florida helped us last season and will do so again this time," he added.

Frankfurt face Paderborn away from home on Sunday.
