Peter Bosz: Kai Havertz 'doesn't deserve' to be jeered by Leverkusen fans

Peter Bosz has lashed out at the supporters who whistled Kai Havertz on Wednesday.
Bayer Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz has defended Kai Havertz after the youngster was jeered off the pitch by supporters in the second half of Wednesday's 0-1 loss to Hertha BSC.

"People always talk about the Bayer 04 family which includes the fans, the players and the employees. I would never insult my family like that," Bosz said at a press conference ahead of Leverkusen's clash with Mainz on Saturday.

"The kid came through the youth ranks here, is now spending his eleventh year at Leverkusen and has already given so much for the club. He should be allowed to play badly at times.

"I don't understand the fans who are jeering him. If they want to help the team, they shouldn't whistle a player. He doesn't deserve this," Bosz said.

Havertz has also received words of support from teammates Jonathan Tah and Sven Bender after the incident.
