Leverkusen boss under no 'time pressure' to make a decision on Kai Havertz's future

Kai Havertz's future remains open, says Bayer Leverkusen boss Rudi Völler.
Bayer Leverkusen and Kai Havertz are in no rush to make a decision on the youngster's future, says club boss Rudi Völler.

Havertz is widely expected to leave Leverkusen in the summer, but Völler claims nothing has been decided at this point.

"We don't have any time pressure and are dealing with this matter in a very open way. At some point, there will be a decision," Völler told Bild.

The German international has struggled to follow up on his excellent 2019/20 campaign, but Völler is confident the 20-year-old will bounce back after the winter break.

"Kai's first half of the season wasn't as outstanding as his last season. But he's burning to do well in the rest of the season, and I'm sure he will with the exceptional ability he has," Völler.

Havertz, who is under contract until 2022, has made 21 appearances for Leverkusen this season, racking up three goals and one assist.
