Robert Lewandowski: 'Everything has gone as planned'

Robert Lewandowski is optimistic he will be fit to face Hertha BSC next week.
Robert Lewandowski fully expects to be fit for Bayern München's first Bundesliga game of 2020 against Hertha BSC on January 19.

The 31-year-old, who missed Bayern's training camp trip to Qatar after undergoing surgery on a groin problem in December, says his recovery is well on track.

"The operation went well, there were no problems. For me, it's currently better to train individually, but don't worry: I will be fit for the first game [of 2020] in Berlin if everything continues to go according to plan. Everything has gone as planned," Lewandowski said in an interview with Sport Bild.

Lewandowski has scored 30 goals in 25 appearances for Bayern this season so far.
