Salihamidzic: Leroy Sané 'no longer' a transfer target for Bayern this month

Bayern München will not be trying to bring in Leroy Sané from Manchester City this month, says sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.
Bayern München sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has ruled out the possibility of bringing Leroy Sané to Allianz Arena from Manchester City this month.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the Bayern boss made it clear that the German international "is no longer a topic" for the January transfer window.

Salihamidzic also addressed the fact that Bayern coach Hansi Flick recently called for new signings.

"I was surprised about the public squad planning and what Hansi said. I don't like to see our squad planning taking place in the media," Salihamidzic told reporters.

The Bayern boss was willing to admit that the squad could do with a few new faces, though.

"We don't have any differences of opinion about that. I want to help the coach. We're looking at our options, but it's hard to strengthen the team," Salihamidzic said.

Bayern are looking for a new right-back, but Salihamidzic stressed that the German champions won't be bringing in a reinforcement in January at any cost.

"It has to fit from a financial point of view. FC Bayern's future doesn't depend on a right-back," he underlined.
