Lothar Matthäus believes Borussia Dortmund newcomer Erling Haaland 'has a world career ahead of him'.
The former German international believes Dortmund have been lacking a player like the 19-year-old, who scored a sensational hat-trick in his Bundesliga debut after coming on as a substitute in the second half, helping his new team to come from behind to beat Augsburg 5-3.
"Bayern fans have been enjoying Robert Lewandowski for years, Timo Werner is in the form of his life at RB Leipzig, and Borussia Dortmund now also have a textbook example of a striker in Erling Haaland," Matthäus wrote in a column for Sky and continued:
"To turn an away game around by scoring three goals in 20 minutes at the age of 19 in your Bundesliga debut is an amazing achievement. This transfer is simply perfect for Borussia Dortmund.
"Borussia Dortmund have been lacking a real number nine in recent years. Of course, you shouldn't exaggerate, but if the Bundesliga's new star avoids serious injuries, he has a world career ahead of him," the former German international stated.
Haaland joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg earlier this month, signing a deal until the summer of 2024.
