Joshua Kimmich: I didn't make it this far because of my talent alone

You need more than just talent to make it as a professional footballer, says Joshua Kimmich.
Joshua Kimmich says other players of his age group were probably more talented than him when he was younger, but believes his mentality and will to always work hard helped him to make it to the very top.

The 24-year-old, who played for VfB Stuttgart and RB Leipzig, before joining Bayern München in 2015 told Sport Bild:

"I never felt that I had much more talent than my teammates or opponents when I was younger. There were other players in my age group who were seen as more talented. I made my first appearance for the youth national team when I played for the U17s. It was the last game after the European Championship and it was basically a B squad. So I never had the feeling that I only made it this far because of my talent.

"Of course, talent always gives you the basis to make it in the end, but I believe your mentality, attitude and ambitions give you the foundation to stay at the very top, develop and get the most out of your talent," Kimmich said.

Kimmich has made 48 appearances for the German national team, scoring three goals.
