Mainz sporting director Rouven Schröder has underlined that Jean-Philippe Mateta isn't for sale amid speculation that SSC Napoli are showing an interest in the striker.

"We have no direct contact with SSC Napoli. We have recognized the interest from various clubs, but I would like to emphasize once again that Mateta has a long-term contract and that he's not for sale," Schröder said in an interview with Kicker.

Mateta has scored two goals in five appearances for Mainz this term after spending the most of the first half on the sidelines due to an injury.

Mainz paid €8 million to bring the 22-year-old to Germany from Olympique Lyon in 2018. The striker's contract runs until 2023.
