Should Joachim Löw take Thomas Müller to the Euros?

Former German internationals Olaf Thon and Hansi Müller believes Thomas Müller deserves to return to the national team for Euro 2020.
With the great form he has been in lately, Thomas Müller is certainly doing what he can to put himself in contention to return to the German national team.

The Bayern München star hasn't played for Germany since October 2018 and was informed in March last year that he was no longer in the plans of national team coach Joachim Löw.

However, according to former German internationals Olaf Thon and Hansi Müller, Löw should consider bringing the 30-year-old back for the European Championship this summer.

"I think he was axed from the team way too quickly. He would fit right in, of course. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will go," Thon told Bild.

"I'm a fan of Thomas Müller. He's such a complete player and has an outstanding presence. He's also in a good footballing age, he's fit and has a special charisma. He does every team good, including the German national team. He belongs in the team," said Hansi Müller.

Thomas Berthold, on the other hand, believes Löw should continue looking at younger alternatives.

"The last two internatinoal tournaments have shown that it's over for him at this level. Müller had his time. Besides, 'Jogi' has many alternatives in his position," said Berthold, who played 62 games for 'Die Mannschaft' in the past.

Lothar Matthäus feels it only makes sense for Löw to call up Müller for the Euros if he's planning to give the 30-year-old a considerable role.

"If he's included in the squad, then he has to play. There is no need to call him up just so he can spread cheerfulness on the bench. Last year, 'Jogi' Löw decided against some of the more experienced players, because he felt a change was needed. So I think it will be a no from Löw. I rather see Müller as an option for the Olympics," Matthäus told Bild.

In an online survey conducted by Bild that more 50.000 people took part in, 69 percent of the participants voted that Müller should be included in Germany's Euro 2020 squad.
