Schalke 04 have opened talks with Suat Serdar over a contract extension, according to Sport Bild.
Serdar still have a few years left of his current deal, which runs until 2022, but Schalke want to tie the midfielder down to a new long-term contract, as per the report.
"Suat Serdar's development, like that of that entire team, is very pleasing. With his incredibly positive attitude, he leads the way and shows the footballing class he has," said Schalke 04 head of sport Jochen Schneider.
The midfielder said earlier this month that he wouldn't say no if the club were to offer him a new deal.
Suat Serdar, 22, has been a pivotal part of David Wagner's Schalke side this season, scoring seven goals in 18 games.
