Uwe Rösler takes over as Fortuna Düsseldorf coach
Uwe Rösler has been appointed new Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Uwe Rösler has been brought in as Fortuna Düsseldorf coach following the dismissal of Friedhelm Funkel.
The former Malmö FF coach has signed a one and a half year contract with the Bundesliga side.
"It wasn't a decision against Friedhelm Funkel, but a decision for Uwe Rösler. It's all about doing what's best for Fortuna," said Fortuna Düsseldorf sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel at a press conference.
Fortuna are currently rock bottom of the Bundesliga, but Rösler is confident the club can avoid relegation.
"We have to score more goals and win at least six games. I want to bring the best players on the pitch and into positions where they feel comfortable. I wouldn't have taken the job if I wasn't convinced we can stay in the league," Rösler said.
