Kevin Volland could miss the rest of the season

Bayer Leverkusen may have to manage without Kevin Volland for the rest of the season.
Kevin Volland could potentially be out for the rest of the season 2019/20 season, Bayer Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz has revealed.

The striker was forced off with an ankle problem in Leverkusen's 2-1 win over FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday, and the injury has turned out to be worse than initially expected.

"He will be out for a long time. He has a syndesmosis injury. It doesn't look good," Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz told Sky after his team's 2-0 win over Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Asked if Volland could be sidelined for the rest of the season, Bosz responded:

"That's possible. He will travel to Munich tomorrow for a final examination. Then we'll know more details."
