Kevin Volland faces long spell on the sidelines

Bayer Leverkusen will have to manage without Kevin Volland for months.

Kevin Volland is expected to be sidelined for around three months, Bayer Leverkusen have announced.

The striker suffered a syndesmosis injury in Leverkusen's 2-1 win over FC Porto last week.

He has now travelled to Munich where he is due to undergo surgery on his ankle.

Volland has made 31 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen this season with 11 goals and nine assists to his name.
