Report: Manchester United were ready to pay €60 million to sign Erling Haaland

Manchester United were willing to pay €60 million for Erling Haaland, as per a report from Sport Bild.
Manchester United were ready to pay a total of €60 million to bring Erling Haaland to Old Trafford from RB Salzburg, according to Sport Bild.

Haaland had a release clause of €20 million, but 'The Red Devils' were reportedly so keen on the youngster that they were willing to pay his representatives and the club a total of €40 million more.

"Manchester United were very interested in Erling. We had a long talk," RB Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund confirms in an interview with Sport Bild.

In the, however, the young striker opted for a move to Borussia Dortmund.

"Many clubs were interested, but Dortmund simply had the best arguments. BVB were looking for exactly this type of player for this position. And as you can see, it turned out to be a good decision," Freund says.

Haaland has scored 12 goals in eight games for Dortmund so far.
