Dortmund youngster Giovanni Reyna to get his first U.S. national team call-up

Borussia Dortmund starlet Giovanni Reyna is set to be handed his first call-up for the U.S. national team in March.
U.S. national team coach Gregg Berhalter has announced his plans to include Borussia Dortmund youngster Giovanni Reyna in his squad for next month's friendlies against Wales and the Netherlands.

The 17-year-old has made his breakthrough in Dortmund's first team in 2020 and is now set to receive his first national team call-up as a reward for his impressive performances.

"We talked over the last year that we want our young players playing and performing at a high level, and because of that, he gets an opportunity with the first team," Berhalter told reporters, according to mlssoccer.com.

Reyna, a former New York City FC Academy player, has made eight appearances for Dortmund this season, racking up a goal and an assist.
