Werder breathe sigh of relief over Toprak injury

Ömer Toprak has been ruled out of Werder Bremen's clash with Hertha BSC, but his injury isn't as bad as initially feared.
There was concern that Ömer Toprak had suffered a fracture of the fibula when he was forced off towards the end of Werder Bremen's 2-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.

But fortunately for Werder, an examination after the game showed that nothing is broken. Toprak will be unavailable for Saturday's game against Hertha due to a laceration, though.

"It was a very painful situation for Ömer, but fortunately nothing is broken. The wound was stiched up in hospital last night, and Ömer returned to the team hotel a little later. But he will be out against Hertha," said Werder coach Florian Kohfeldt in a statement.

Toprak has made 13 appearances for Werder this season.
