City of Bremen postpones Werder's home game against Leverkusen

Monday's game between Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen has been suspended by the city of Bremen.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the city of Bremen has postponed Werder Bremen's home game against Bayer Leverkusen, which was due to take place on Monday.

The German Football League (DFL) said earlier on Friday that all upcoming Bundesliga games between Friday and Monday were expected to go on as planned behind closed doors, but Bremen's mayor, Andreas Bovenschulte, has now announced that the match between Werder and Leverkusen has been put off.

"It was expected that 2,000 to 3,000 people would gather in front of the stadium. Therefore, the senator of home affairs has said that the game cannot take place," Bovenschulte said.

"The spread of the virus must be slowed down so that the health system will not get overloaded. Therefore, everything must be done consistently now," he added.
