Dietmar Hamann: Selling David Alaba would be a huge loss for Bayern

Former German international Dietmar Hamann believes it would be 'almost impossible' for Bayern München to find a replacement for David Alaba if the 27-year-old leaves the club.
Dietmar Hamann has urged Bayern München to do all they can to hold on to David Alaba amid speculation that the 27-year-old is thinking about leaving the club this summer.

"If Alaba leaves, it would be a huge loss. He's currently one of the most important players at Bayern. Finding a replacement would be almost impossible with the flexibility he has," the Sky pundit told AZ.

Hamann believes Bayern should be prepared to offer the Austrian international a considerable salary increase if that's what it takes to make him extend his deal beyond 2021.

"He's one of the top five players in the team, so he has to be paid accordingly," the former Liverpool midfielder said.

At the same time, Hamann can see why Alaba is considering his situation.

"He's 27 years old now, so it's probably the last chance for him to play at an absolute top level in another country," the former German international explained.
