Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer has backed UEFA's decision to postpone the European Championship until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"It feels right," the Swiss international said in an interview with Rheinischen Post.

"Playing a European Championship under these circumstances, possibly without spectators, wouldn't have felt good, not even for us footballers. I think that UEFA has made the right decision by postponing the tournament until next year," he continued.

Sommer, 31, has made 53 appearances for the Swiss national team.
