Goretzka and Kimmich have collected €3.6 million to help amid coronavirus outbreak

The platform #WeKickCorona, which was launched by Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich just over a week ago, has received donations of more than €3.6 million so far.
Just a week after Bayern München's Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich launched the initative #WeKickCorona to raise money for those affected by the coronavirus, they have received donations of more than €3.6 million.

The numbers were revealed by Goretzka during the TV show 'CHECK24 Doppelpass', which is hosted by Sport1.

"Joshua and I had the feeling that many are sitting at home without knowing how they can help. We decided to start this initiative to give all these people the opportunity to help without having to leave home," said Goretzka.

Joshua Kimmich added:

"We wanted to help quickly, and so far this initiative has been very successful. At the beginning, we concentrated on getting a few footballers on board as we hoped to get a large sum together quickly and achieve a good coverage."

Goretzka and Kimmich donated a total of €1 million to the project themselves. Among many others, Mats Hummels, Benedikt Höwedes, Jonas Hector and Leroy Sané have made donations.
