Rummenigge wants to complete the season, even until September

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is against a complete cancellation of the remaining Bundesliga season.
Right now, the coronavirus pandemic is dictating the timeline. Everything is shut down by law, so it is not up to the Bundesliga to decide whether to play or not.

But once the lockdown is eased up, a decision will have to be made, whether to cancel the rest of the season or to play the remaining games.

As the pandemic drags out, it is becoming increasingly challenging to complete the current season without clashing with the first games in the next season.

But Rummenigge would prefer to play the remaining matches even if the current season has to be dragged out until September.

In an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, he said that it would even be an option if the season didn't end until September and the new season didn't start until next winter.

"We should definitely finish this season for reasons of sporting fairness, but of course also to keep the economic damage as low as possible," he said.

The official decision is expected to be made later today, when The German Football League (DFL) will host a meeting in Frankfurt at 10.30 a.m.
