Kevin Volland has revealed he's two weeks ahead of schedule in his recovery from an ankle injury.

"Initially, we assumed that I would have to walk on crutches for six weeks. But I was able to put them away after just four weeks," the Bayer Leverkusen striker told Sport Bild.

When Volland suffered the injury, it was feared that he could be out until the end of the season.

But with the Bundesliga suspended until at least April 30 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 27-year-old might still be able to play several more games this season.

"I still want to step in this season. I think that I'll be ready to train with the team in the beginning of May," Volland said.

The 27-year-old has made 31 appearances this season with 11 goals and nine assists to his name.
