Ralf Fährmann ready to reclaim the number one shirt at Schalke 04

Ralf Fährmann is confident he's capable of taking back the position as Schalke 04's first-choice goalkeeper.
After losing the number one shirt at Schalke 04 to Alexander Nübel, Ralf Fährmann went out on loan for the 2019/20 season.

But with Nübel moving to Bayern München in the summer, the 31-year-old is hoping that he will be able to reclaim the position as Schalke's first-choice goalkeeper when his loan spell at Norwegian side SK Brann is over at the end of the season.

"If I get a fair chance, I'm convinced that I can become the number one again. But it's also clear that I don't want anything handed to me. I didn't want that in the past, and I never will in the future. I simply want to be treated fairly. And I think I deserve that," Fährmann said in an interview with Transfermarkt.de.

"I've had a few lows in my career, but I've always fought my way back, and I'm not letting myself down now. I will try to battle [for the number one shirt] again, that's for sure," he added.

Fährmann initially joined Norwich City on loan, but after failing to nail down a starting berth in England, he made the switch to Norway.

When he returns to Schalke, Fährmann is expected to compete with Markus Schubert for the spot between the sticks.
