Flick reiterates that Neuer will remain Bayern's number one despite Nübel's arrival

Alexander Nübel will be treated just as any other Bayern player, says head coach Hansi Flick, who reiterates that Manuel Neuer will remain his first-choice goalkeeper.
Bayern München coach Hansi Flick has high expectations for Alexander Nübel, but underlines that the 23-year-old will not have anything handed to him following his summer arrival from Schalke 04.

In an interview with Kicker, Flick reiterates that there is no question that Neuer will remain his number one and points out that Ulreich is doing a great job as the club's second-choice goalkeeper.

"Alexander Nübel will be given the same trust and appreciation as all other goalkeepers and players in our team. He's a young, very talented keeper, whom we want to develop further. However, it's also clear that at FC Bayern, it's your performances that counts - even more so than elsewhere. And right now, Sven Ulreich is doing a really great job," Flick said and went on:

"Manuel Neuer is clearly our number one, and that won't change in the coming season. Alexander Nübel knows that, too.

"Who plays in the end is always a matter for the coach. And I will always discuss this decision with my coaching staff," Flick explained.
