Former Bayern München president Uli Hoeness has praised the club's sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, for pulling off the signing of Alexander Nübel on a free transfer from Schalke 04.
The German champions announced in January that Nübel will be coming to Allianz Arena, where he will provide competition for Manuel Neuer from this summer onwards.
"I would very much welcome and look forward to Manuel Neuer staying with FC Bayern for the next few years, because he's still the best goalkeeper in the world," Hoeness said in an interview with Kicker and added:
"At the same time, I 100 percent believe that the club did the right thing by signing Alexander Nübel, which was a brilliant achievement by Hasan Salihamidzic."
Bayern are currently in negotiations with Neuer over a contract extension beyond 2021, at which point his current deal expires.
Nübel has agreed a contract until 2025 with the Bavarians.
