Jupp Heynckes: Leroy Sané is not 'an absolute top player'

Former Bayern München coach Jupp Heynckes feels Leroy Sané has yet to prove that he is 'an absolute top player'.

Bayern were heavily linked with the Manchester City winger before he suffered a serious knee injury last summer, and he has remained on their radar ever since.

According to reports, Manchester City wanted at least €100 million for the winger at the time, but Heynckes doesn't believe he's worth that sum of money.

"He was on a good run before he got seriously injured. For me, he has not yet made the breakthrough to become an absolute top player," Heynckes said in an interview with Die Welt and added:

"I think he's at a crossroads right now. Will he continue to work hard on himself, or will he continue to be just an exceptional talent?

"He must be ready to take the next big step, because it's no use showing your talent in glimpses. I'll also tell you quite honestly that I don't think the price is justifiable."

The 24-year-old's contract with Manchester City expires in 2021.
