German authorities are set to give the green light for the Bundesliga to resume, probably from May 15, sources close to the preparations have told Reuters.

According to the news agency, German states are willing to allow football to return under strict conditions and behind closed doors.

German state premiers are scheduled to hold a teleconference with Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday to discuss measures to loosen coronavirus restrictions.

The German Football Association announced on Monday that 10 people tested positive for coronavirus in the first phase of testing for players and staff at the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga clubs.

Since Thursday, a total of 1,724 corona tests have been carried out at the 36 clubs in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga, and a second wave of tests is underway.
