Report: Witsel expected to complete Dortmund move within a few days

Axel Witsel is set to complete his move to Borussia Dortmund within a few days, Bild understands.
One of this summer's most exhausting transfer sagas may finally soon have its end. Axel Witsel is expected to complete his move to Borussia Dortmund from Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian within a few days, Bild understands.

The Chinese side have been reluctant to letting Witsel go, claiming that the €20 million exit clause in his contract is not currently valid as the Chinese transfer window isn't open. However, according to Bild, the release clause is still active and not tied to a specific period.

Borussia Dortmund's squad traveled to the club's training camp at Bad Ragaz in Switzerland on Tuesday, but managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke and sporting director Michael Zorc have stayed in Dortmund to clarify the final details of the Witsel transfer.

The 29-year-old central midfielder joined the Chinese club in January 2017.
