Wout Weghorst on his future: 'Of course I have ambitions'

Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst claims 'you can't plan much in football'.
Wout Weghorst has addressed his future at Wolfsburg in an interview with Kicker.

Asked if the ongoing corona situation has influenced his career plans, Weghorst replied:

"You can't plan much in football. Now we need to start playing again, and then we'll see. Of course I have ambitions. But I want to make it clear that I feel very comfortable in Wolfsburg."

When Wolfsburg resume the Bundesliga season against Augsburg on Saturday, Weghorst will not be able to feature due a yellow-card suspension.

"I'm convinced that two or three of the five yellow cards were completely unjustified. That's what bothers me. But the annoyance is more or less gone. For me, things will just kick off against Dortmund," he said, referring to Wolfsburg's home game against Borussia Dortmund on May 23.

Weghorst has netted 15 times in 34 games for Wolfsburg this season. His contract runs until 2023.
