Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge responds to statements from Timo Werner

Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has taken a dig at Timo Werner after the RB Leipzig striker recently distanced himself from a move to Allianz Arena.
Bayern München CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has reacted to statements from RB Leipzig's Timo Werner, who recently said that he would rather move abroad than to Bayern.

"I'm actually no longer surprised about anything, but I have never seen a player make such a statement in response to rumors in public," Rummenigge told Sport Bild.

Werner has been continuously linked with Bayern München for a while, but distanced himself from a switch to Allianz Arena, when he told Bild:

"Bayern are a great club, we don't need to talk about that. And Hansi Flick has proven that he's a really good head coach. But if a move should be an option at some point, I would rather move abroad than to Bayern. The challenge in another league would appeal more to me than a switch within the Bundesliga."

Liverpool are said to be leading the race for the German international, who has a €60 million release clause in his contract.
