Kevin Kampl expected to sign new RB Leipzig deal in the near future

RB Leipzig are reportedly set to offer Kevin Kampl a contract extension.
Kevin Kampl should sign a contract extension with RB Leipzig after the club have decided to offer him a new deal, according to Bild.

The parties are expected to come to a quick agreement after negotiations over the midfielder's future were put temporarily on ice due to the corona crisis.

Last month, Kampl hinted that he would like to extend his current deal, which runs until 2021.

"I have been thinking about whether I wanted to play in a different country. But my wife and children feel very much at home in Germany. Especially in these special times, you can see how well Germany is positioned. I can't imagine a better place to live," he tld Bild.

Kampl could make his return from an ankle injury that has kept him out through most of the season when RB Leipzig face Freiburg at home on Saturday.

"He won't be able to play a full 90 minutes, but is an option to start," said RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann on Thursday.
