Lewandowski chases Gerd Müller's goal record: 'It won't be easy, but if anyone can do it, it's him,' says Flick

Robert Lewandowski needs to score 14 times in the remaining eight games of the season to equal Gerd Müller's record for most goals scored in a Bundesliga season. "It won't be easy," says Bayern coach Hansi Flick. "But if anyone can do it, it's him".
Bayern München coach Hansi Flick believes it will be difficult for Robert Lewandowski to break Gerd Müller's record for most goals scored in a Bundesliga season.

After scoring once against Union Berlin on Sunday, Lewandowski will have to hit the back of the net 14 times in the remaining eight league games of the season to equal Müller's record of 40 goals, which he set in the 1971–72 season. A difficult, but not impossible task for the Polish international, says Flick.

"He scored again, now has 26 goals and eight games left to break the record. It won't be easy, but he has the quality. If anyone can do it, it's him," Flick told Sky after Sunday's 2-0 win and added:

"'Lewy' makes a very good impression. He's in top shape. We didn't manage to get him involved in the game as much as we would have liked. There are things we need to improve offensively and in our combinations."

Lewandowski's own record is 30 league goals, which he achieved in both 2015-16 and 2016-17.
