Christian Streich disappointed with 'undeserved' loss to Werder

Christian Streich believes Freiburg deserved more from their 0-1 defeat to Werder Bremen.
Freiburg coach Christian Streich felt his team were unfortunate to be on the end of a 0-1 defeat at home to Werder Bremen on Saturday.

"We wanted to beat Werder. It was hard for us in the first 20 minutes, but we never stopped trying. We wanted to play offensively and fought our way into the game. From our point of view, it was an undeserved defeat," Streich said after the game and added:

"We weren't good enough in front of goal. We have to blame ourselves for not scoring a goal in this game."

Leonardo Bittencourt, who scored the winner for the visitors, was delighted to end a run of seven league games without a win, although he admitted it wasn't Werder's best performance.

"We had to win today and we gave it everything. After we took the lead we didn't play as well as we'd have liked, but we're delighted to have won here today," he said after the final whistle, as cited by the club.

Freiburg are sixth in the Bundesliga before Sunday's games while Werder sit 17th.
