Schalke's woes continue with embarrassing home loss to Augsburg

Schalke 04's struggles continued with a disappointing 0-3 loss to Augsburg at home.
Schalke and Markus Schubert have let in seven goals in their last two games. |
'The Royal Blues' coach David Wagner made three changes to the team that lost 4-0 to Borussia Dortmund last week as Rabbi Matondo and Alessandro Schöpf started instead of the injured Amine Harit and Jean-Clair Todibo while Benito Raman made way for Michael Gregoritsch.
Meanwhile, Felix Uduokhai and Carlos Gruezo came in to start for Augsburg, replacing Marek Suchy and Daniel Baier.
The visitors opened the scoring after just seven minutes, when Eduardo Löwen curled a free-kick into the top corner.
Schalke dominated possession throughout the game and took a number of shots at goal in the first half, but lacked the ruthlessness to beat Andreas Luthe in the Augsburg net.
Augsburg, on the other hand, were clinical and doubled the lead through substitute Noah-Joel Sarenren-Bazee after 76 minutes.
Sergio Cordova, who came on after 83 minutes, then made it 3-0 in injury time, taking the ball around Schubert to slot it into the empty net following a mistake from Levant Mercan.
Schalke are eighth in the table while Augsburg move to 12th, taking a step away from the relegation zone.
