Michael Zorc: It was lucky that Raphael Guerreiro signed a new deal

BVB boss Michael Zorc waxes lyrical about Raphael Guerreiro after the 26-year-old had another excellent game on Saturday.
After months of negotiations, Raphael Guerreiro signed a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund in October, committing himself to the club until 2023.

Guerreiro has since become increasingly important for 'Die Schwarzgelben', much to the delight of BVB sporting director Michael Zorc, who was pleased to see the Portuguese international score the opener in Saturday's 2-0 win over Wolfsburg.

"He's becoming increasingly decisive for us. It's very nice to see that he's chipping in with goals. It was lucky for both parties that he signed a contract extension," Zorc told Bild.

"Raphael put in a world-class performance against Schalke as well," the BVB boss said, referring to last week's 4-0 win over 'The Royal Blues', in which Guerreiro bagged a brace.

The 26-year-old has scored eight goals and made five assists in 31 games for BVB this season.
