"Timo Werner has a good instinct not just to stay out on the wing, but come into a central position. Along with his speed, this makes him very difficult to defend against," Nagelsmann said after the game.
Werner, who has now scored 24 league goals this season, was delighted to take a step towards Champions League qualification.
"We played very well from the first minute and kept them under pressure for the whole game. We were determined to secure three important points as we look to qualify for the Champions League," the German international said.
RB Leipzig sit third in the Bundesliga table, seven points behind league leaders Bayern München.
