RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann recently said that he has discussed potential transfer targets with the club's sporting director, Markus Krösche.

However, in an interview in Wednesday's edition of Sport Bild, Krösche says it's difficult to plan for next season before it's clear if RB Leipzig will qualify for the Champions League or not.

"I deal with strategic planning and how our squad could look in the future. But in the short team, it's still difficult to implement plans. For us, it's all about whether we get into the Champions League," Krösche said and added:

"We're not under the same pressure as in other transfer phases. The other leagues are yet to return. And the other Bundesliga clubs are no different from us: they, too, have to achieve goals to plan financially."

Asked to provide an update on the club's contract talks with Kevin Kampl and Dayot Upamecano, whose deals expire in 2021, Krösche said:

"In these cases, too, it's now irrelevant to know how we will finish the season from a sporting perspective. We are in good talks with both of them and would like to keep them with us."

With five games left to play this season, RB Leipzig sit third in the Bundesliga, two points clear of Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen.
