Oscar Wendt has signed a new contract, reveals Gladbach boss Max Eberl

Borussia Mönchengladbach have extended Oscar Wendt's contract until 2021, sporting director Max Eberl has revealed.
Oscar Wendt has signed a one-year contract extension with Borussia Mönchengladbach, sporting director Max Eberl has revealed.

The left-back's deal was due to run out this summer, but it's now clear that he will be staying for another season.

"Oscar Wendt will be staying at Borussia for another year. There was no clause, we simply decided to extend his contract," Eberl said at a press conference ahead of Gladbach's Bundesliga clash with Freiburg on Friday.

"Oscar has a lot of experience. He's a clever footballer and a great guy. Extending his contract again by a year was only logical," added Gladbach coach Marco Rose.

Wendt, 34, joined Gladbach from Danish side FC Copenhagen in 2011. He has since gone on to make 272 appearances for the club with 17 goals and 20 assists to his name.
