The 24-year-old, who plays for Leipzig's Austrian sister club, is apparently seen as a possible replacement for Timo Werner, who is set to join Chelsea, according to reports.
Hwang's contract runs until 2021. Should the striker make the move to Leipzig, he will walk in the footsteps of the likes of Dayot Upamecano, Amadou Haidara and Hannes Wolf, who all took the same path in the past.
Werder Bremen's Milot Rashica has also been mentioned as a possible successor for Werner. The 23-year-old has a €38 million release clause, which will drop to €15 million if 17th-placed Werder are relegated from the Bundesliga.
