Hansi Flick backs Lucas Hernandez amid PSG links

Lucas Hernandez is 'the kind of player you want as a coach', says Bayern München coach Hansi Flick.
Bayern München coach Hansi Flick has responded to speculation linking Lucas Hernandez with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Cadena SER and Sport Bild, the 24-year-old is subject of interest from the French champions, who apparently see him as a possible replacement for Thiago Silva.

But Flick underlines that he's very happy to have Hernandez in his squad even though the French international has struggled to find regular playing time following his €80 million move from Atletico Madrid last summer.

"I don't know the headlines, and I don't care about them. He's under contract with us," Flick said at a press conference ahead of Bayern München's Bundesliga clash with Werder Bremen on Tuesday.

"He hasn't had an easy time because of his injuries. Every player needs rhythm, and he hasn't had that. The back four with Pavard, David, Alaba and Boateng have done very well.

"Unfortunately, I haven't been able to give him the rhythm he needs yet. However, I do see his potential, even if that doesn't often come across to the outside world. He's the kind of player you want as a coach," Flick said.

Hernandez's contract with Bayern runs until 2024.
