No more Champions League for Werner

Timo Werner will not play another Champions League match for RB Leipzig ahead of his presumed move to Chelsea FC in the English Premier League.
Timo Werner, with four goals and two assists in eight appearances this season in the Champions League, will not suit up for the quarter-finals.

According to Sport Bild, the German striker will only finish Bundesliga season matches before he makes the switch to Chelsea. It is known that the Southwest London club should activate the release clause in the coming days for a reported €53 million.

In an interview with German newspaper Kicker, when asked about his next move, Werner said:

"I can basically imagine playing abroad at some point, but I don't have a concrete goal that I would like to go to. I'm open to everything. My last holiday was in America, where English football was played throughout. That's an exclamation mark for the Premier League."

RB Leipzig advanced to the quarter-finals after thoroughly dispatching Tottenham Hotspur FC by an aggregate score of 4-0 in the round of 16.

UEFA will be deciding the final calendar, format and venue for the resumption of the Champions League sometime this week.
